Okay, I've been able to get a few hours of sleep so I'm fresh enough to do this. As everyone knows, I've been planning on this trip for a very long time, and Friday I made a dream of mine a reality. ( Cut for tons of photos and content )
absolutely thrilled that the Celica worked as well as it did when you gave it a test run. :) from the photos, it looks really clean! if only it had the ST205 brakes as well as the trans. :p
a full 3 inch exhaust won't cause fuel cut. my wife has a 3 inch downpipe and 3 inch exhaust, granted st185 ecu, but even at 7000rpm with your foot planted to the steel - no fuel cut. stock CT26 as well.
boost leak, eh? i know with the Turbo Supra (MA70), the factory said to replace every vacuum hose every 60-80k miles. i know that your Celica is not near that mileage, but time has a way of destroying vacuum lines. an easy way to test is to start the engine and begin lightly spraying carb cleaner at specific areas. when the engine bogs down, that is where your leak is.
this is the only place that i get vacuum line from anymore. nothing else is worth my time or money, frankly. and so, i pass on the good stuff to you. :)
Thanks for the info and the link! So, to clarify, your wife's swapped Camry is running a full, straight piped 3" setup like mine? The '185 has the same fuel cut level at the '165, though the turbo is different('165 is a smaller version of the MA70 CT26, '185 has the twin entry exhaust section with the dual wastegate ports). The TVSV hasn't been touched as far as I can tell so the wastegate should be opening at the lower pressures in 1st and 2nd despite the exhaust?
What size kit would you recommend if I wanted to re-do the vac lines on the '165? I'm pretty sure there's got to be a lot of dry rot to deal with' I just don't remember how many lines these engines have in the first place. I'm assuming some are very fun to get to with the engine still in the car; likely tucked underneath the intake manifold?
yes. actually, her 3 inch exhaust is for a Celica as no one makes one for an AllTrac Camry. yes, she has the factory twin entry turbo with the stock wastegate and recirc valve. there is no boost gauge, so i cannot state what PSI it hits or when the boost technically builds up.
3mm will cover the majority of the vacuum lines on the vehicle - i think there might be some slightly larger hoses, but there are not many of those and they're short from what i recall. i bought 20ft for my 3sge aw11 and i had very little left after i was done.
the power steering air hoses (shaped like J) are 4mm. 10ft would cover 3 or 4 vehicles. :)
this is the exact link for hose by the foot. again, i got 20ft.
