Fox Talk at National Wildlife Refuge

On Saturday D. and I went to the National Wildlife Refuge in Fremont to hear a talk about the gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) given by "The Fox Guy" naturalist Bill Leikam.  Gray foxes are highly successful survivors and are adapting to living closer to urban environments.  We learned about the typical ( Read more... )

An Alien World in Menlo ParkOn Saturday D. and I went to the salt crystallization ponds in Menlo Park, where we found an alien landscape with few traces of life (and what little life there was struggling to survive). Saturday's field trip: Redwood Shores & Seal Point ParkSaturday D. and I went to Redwood Shores, which is a developed community on a peninsula sticking out of Redwood City into San Francisco Bay.
