National Wildlife Refuge, Newark

On Saturday D. and I went to the National Wildlife Refuge in Fremont to walk the Newark Slough Trail.  We saw a western fence lizard, former salt ponds being converted back into natural salt marshes, gum plant, black-necked stilts, terns, and lots of cliff swallows feeding their juvenile offspring.  Here are some ( Read more... )

Ed R. Levin County Park

On Saturday D. and I decided to go to Ed R. Levin County Park and take a walk. Here are some pics I took.

The southern portion of the park, known as the Spring Valley Area, is named for the many springs that flow year-round in this area. We begin our walk at the scenic pond, a kids-only fishing hole.
