Coal Mine Ridge Part 1

On Saturday D. and I took a walk on the Old Spanish Trail at Coal Mine Ridge, and I took so many pics of the flowers I'm posting only half here and the rest will follow here.

Coal Mine Ridge Open Space

It had been over a year since D. and I last visited Coal Mine Ridge Open Space, so we decided to go back on Sunday and see the place again. I took these pics.

We see hedgehog dogtail grass as we set out on the Alpine Trail.

Coal Mine Ridge 2On Saturday D. and I returned to Coal Mine Ridge to see a section of the preserve we missed last time, due to less than ideal trail signage and misinterpretation of a hike description in a book. Coal Mine RidgeOn Saturday D. and I went to an open space in neighboring Portola Valley called Coal Mine Ridge. There used to be a coal mine there long ago but a huge landslide put it out of production. It never produced much coal anyway.
