London

It was a little surreal, Monday in London. The only tiny hint of trouble I noticed was the National Theatre closing straight after the play in the evening, instead of staying open until 11. There were lists of closed stations on the tube, and a few more police officers than usual at the railway station, but it was barely noticeable ( Read more... )

oh, oh, this is so lovely, thanks for sharing it! All the nature is gorgeous, and the South Bank is probably still my favourite part of London.

I never, ever tire of the South Bank. I end up there so often, partly because I go to the National Theatre a lot, or the Tate Modern or Southwark Playhouse, and walk along from there, and partly just because if I have an hour or two spare and nothing else planned, it's always enjoyable. And lots of the time there's something new to see or listen to. Plus I love the Matcha Chillers at Eat!

I love this country fiercely and this pics from London just make me all the more proud to be English. The trending topics on Twitter over the last few days that have heightened this: #riot cleanup and #operationcupoftea

Add into that the fact that the people gathering to reclaim their communities with brooms and marigolds called themselves "RiotWombles" and I'm pretty much done. We will not let this small minority speak for us, for the city, for this brilliant, ridiculous and beautiful country.

::emotional and patriotic and in need of tea::

RiotWombles FTW!

I'm an Aussie but lived in London for two years (as I think most of us do at some point!) and it is still my home away from home.

this brilliant, ridiculous and beautiful country. Hear, hear!

It actually reminds me of a play I saw a couple of months ago, London Road. It was about how the inhabitants of the road where the Ispwich murderer lived rebuilt their lives/reclaimed their road after the furore died down, and how they ended up more of a community than they had been before. I think it's the British spirit, to be at our best when things are worst.

RiotWombles is wonderful!
