Torchwood, Friday Night Lights and Supernatural screencaps/gallery poll

Jan 25, 2008 20:09

Oh Torchwood, you are so silly and cheesy, and thank goodness you don't take yourself too seriously.

I made some screencaps, because Torchwood is pretty. And Supernatural caps because I was missing an episode, and Friday Night Lights, because it's also pretty.

Style two looks good. However,I think where there are a few hundred images, that it is important to be able to both quickly navigate between index pages and individual screencaps. With my galleries, I was able to go in and add my own code to the templates to achieve both objectives ( ... )

The galleries I currently have up do have both options, navigating between index pages and individual screencaps. Unfortunately, there's a bug with the script I've been using, so the galleries don't work properly in Firefox, so I've been trying to come to a decent compromise. Do you mind me asking how you build your galleries - you say you don't use a script? I've been using JAlbum, both because it's simple to use, and makes galleries quickly - with the number I have online, I can't afford to spend much time on them - but I'm open to any other ideas.

And thanks for the thoughts on the thumbnails - if they're unlikely to make much difference to page loading time, I'm more than happy to go with the larger size.

I use the "simple" style webgallery in Photoshop CS, with modifications to the templates found at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Presets\Web Photo Gallery\simple. I change the settings each time in PS depending upon the number of screencaps I have and the popularity of a movie or whatever else it is I'm uploading ( ... )

Talk about ignorant - I had no idea there was a webgallery option in Photoshop! Thanks for telling me about it! I rather like that simple layout, but unfortunately it's very similar to the minimal one I used to use, and doesn't give the option to jump pages. It's also more time consuming to make galleries that way, and I'm afraid, while I don't mind taking some time setting things up, if I'm going to be making twenty galleries in my lunchbreak, I want it to be quick! I know, I'm hard to please! *g*

Anyway, thanks for giving me some pointers and things to think about!

Hi Signe!

It's been a *long* time since I posted a message in one of your entries... :(

As always, your caps rock :)
I like style 2 better, but I'll take anything!

And yup... Torchwood sure is pretty!

hugs!

Hi! And again, thank you for the birthday pressie! <333

Glad you enjoy the caps! I've been slacking on making them (concentrating on writing) but I do still like to make some at times.

Thanks for the Torchwood caps.

About the gallery, do you have a 3rd option?
Because what I like about #1: does enable you to click quickly from one screencap to the next and #2: can quickly jump to later index pages.
I don't think a slideshow is necessary, at least I never use that option, but a combination of the the other two things would be great.

The third option is what I currently have on the site, but (and it's a huge but) the galleries don't work properly in Firefox, which is why I'm having to redo them and come up with an alternative that will work in all browsers. If I can find one that gives both the options you like, that'll be fantastic, but so far, nothing has worked successfully. :-(

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I'm only making LJ layouts, but it can be so hard to make them work in more than one browser.
