Torchwood, Friday Night Lights and Supernatural screencaps/gallery poll

Jan 25, 2008 20:09

Oh Torchwood, you are so silly and cheesy, and thank goodness you don't take yourself too seriously.

I made some screencaps, because Torchwood is pretty. And Supernatural caps because I was missing an episode, and Friday Night Lights, because it's also pretty.

Thanks for the feedback - I have my own preference, of course, but seeing as I'm not the one going to be using the site in that way, I'd rather make sure everyone else gets their say.

Well, I know what it's like looking for caps and having to navigate through a site that's not user friendly, and just how frustrating it can be. So I do want to make the site as workable as possible, within the range of my limited coding skills!

I love you for so many reasons. The Torchwood caps are just icing on the cake. Thank you! *smooches* I'll download them when I get home late tonight.

I download *.zip files of screen caps wherever possible because I love to cycle through them when picking a cap to icon -- and that's much quicker and more convenient from my HD than from a website, no matter how wonderfully set up for navigating. A lot of sites don't offer the *.zip files, though, so in those instances I REALLY prefer to have galleries where I can click on the thumb, right click, and select, "Save link as." I can't do that when the link is to an html page but I can when it's to a plain old *.jpg. I might like slightly larger thumbs so that I could better guess what I was getting.

However, since you offer *.zip files, I'll be happily snagging every last picture so my opinion isn't necessarily relevant. Not that is stopped me from giving it. *smirk*

Hee, thanks!

I always prefer zip files too, and now I don't have bandwidth issues, I can afford to put them up for all the caps on the site. But I know some people, especially if they're on dialup or don't have much HD space, can't handle the zips.

The site was meant to be set up so that you could right click and save the image from the html page (that was why I had the full size cap on the html page) - it just doesn't work in Firefox, thanks to an issue with the script I was using. Which was a shame as that style gallery was ideal all around. So I'm having to find a compromise, which kind of sucks.

As for thumbnail size, do you prefer this?

Oh, absolutely. I think it's wonderful that you go to the trouble to make the caps available to everyone, no matter how the person works best.

I can right-click save from the html page. I prefer to skip loading the larger picture except as a right-click save. I tend to save a LOT of pictures and that might not be true for more selective savers. Especially those working with limited hard drive space.

That's a perfect thumbnail size for me. It's small enough to be quick but large enough to appreciate the content. I'm on broadband so I wonder what size your dial-up users might prefer.

I like the larger thumbnail size too - if it's not an issue for dialup people, I'll probably go with that for future galleries. But I'll give dialup people priority, and if it makes it hard for them to load the page, then I'll stick with the smaller size.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback on what works for you!

I'm cheering for the return of your cap site, I meant to email or simply ask you about it, but I kept being distracted by other things :)

Anyway, my prefernce goes to the second style (and I pretty much use only the galleries when I want pictures for my graphic).

Last you rock big time :D

I actually prefer style two as well, but my opinion is sort of irrelevant as I don't use the galleries! *g*

I've actually just added another test gallery to the bottom of the post, with larger thumbnails, so if they're a factor for you, I'd love to know which you prefer.

I like the larger thumbnails, even if it's not an issue if they are smaller.

Style one loaded very quickly in Firefox, but style two had a tantrum. Might be me, not you. Anyway, the fact that there's a zip file makes it fairly irrelevant to me, as I'll just grab that and flip through in my own image viewer.

Oh, that's weird that the second one didn't work for you - I hope that's an isolated incident. Eeek. But yes, I put up zip files with all the galleries anyway, so I'm sure a lot of people will use those.

It's handy to know it works well on a Mac and in FF - thanks!

And thanks for the feedback on which works best for you.
