Sometimes I think that I'm the only one who has noticed that the Simpsons has been in steady decline for almost ten years. That the decline was sharp and then steady is also something I don't seem to hear talked about much ( Read more... )

Oh oh! Let's play when did the SImpsons jump the shark!

I say it was after the Simpsons episode where they parodied Run Lola Run. That was the last episode I remember that I liked, and that was 2001. I think classic Simpsons died after Who Shot Monty Burns.

Season 9 was the last good season. After that, it's trash.

I watch the old episodes now and then so my memory is pretty fresh on this :)

My issue with that clip is that it references stuff that is pretty popular at the moment. If there hadn't been hugely successful Spiderman movies then I'd probably think that the clip is funny too. It seems clear that they're just hoping to cash in on something that most people like (or at least don't hate).

I'm cynical though so maybe it is funny ;-)
