[The buffet is ... interesting, and mouth-watering and wholly unlike any feeding ground Joey has ever seen, but it doesn't have raw fish. It's been two days, she's found human-type clothing (currently, she's sporting an inside-out and backwards tee that goes down to her knees) and she's collected the courage to go foraging again ( Read more... )

They're bears. The ones that make sushi--the fishy food--on deck eight are safe. They'll feed you if you ask them to.

The ones in Carnival aren't, but you should stay out of Carnival, anyway.

Bears. Okay.

[Joey peeks around the door, emboldened by this new information and the prospect of fish. Hello, bears!]

What's in Carnival?

Danger. You should probably be careful around the theater and deck 16, too.

But the sushi bears are safe. They've never caused any trouble.

[Natural instinct versus Marco's word. Everything she's taught tells Joey to get the hell out of Dodge and forget the fish, but he's been very helpful (told her where to get clothes! calmed her down!) and. Fish.

She takes a tentative step into the restaurant.]

Alright... Is it no good to ask what the danger is?

[Joey wonders if sushi bears look any different from Carnival bears.]

[She is slowly getting the hang of this reply function. After fumbling, that is.]

It smells... fresh. Really fresh.

It is, you should totally try it out. If you like fish, that is.

[You know what Joey needs? Someone to help her!

Have a slightly out-of-place and confused looking boy in a dark blue long-sleeved shirt and jeans, carrying a plate of food, who pauses seeing the girl crouching sitting alone, with the plate full of tuna.]

Uh -- Do you mind if I sit here?

[She jumps. Sometimes her spatial awareness is just fine, and others, when she's given the food for thought that is Marco's info, it's... not. Joey studiously chews the slice of fish she'd packed into her mouth until it's mush, like a normal human should.

The uncertain smile Bobby gets has a tuft of red meat stuck in its teeth.]

No, no! Please do.

[Bobby smiles hesitantly back, sitting down next to the girl who looks like she got in a fight with the beach and lost. But he's nothing if not nice and, well, a little lonely and looking to make friends, so he ignores it for now.]

Thanks. [He sits down, picking up his own fork and starting to push his food around, for lack of a better word.] So - you new here, or have you been here a while?

[Ditto the lonely. Joey is so subdued she's officially gone from lonesome to ronery with a capital R.]

I've only been around for two nights, so... yeah, I guess. Pretty new. Marco told me that a lot of people have been here much longer?

[She tries using her tongue to push the tuna she can feel stuck out from between her teeth and down her gullet where it belongs, unsuccessfully. Oblivious to how rude it may be, she jams her finger up in there and scratches at the stubborn scrap.]
