I used to roll my eyes when people, usually older ladies, would talk about desiring to eat up babies....as in she is so sweet I could eat her up. Maybe too much of this initially irritating language worked its way into my brain and built an ugly association, or maybe I just get it now. when we come home Mylo is much older. Take this weekend for instance. Megan got married, so we all went to chicago. Upon our return, Mylo has started to sing. Okay, he's not singing words, but what he is doing is responding (turn-taking) in sounds that very in pitch and with great animation, to my singing to him. Everyday Mylo is visibly older and more obviously a person. Now his thing is sucking on his hands. He went from liking to play with them (yesterday) to being able to reliably get them there and cover them with drool. He is outgrowing things quickly and cooing so much. Today Mylo ate a whole bottle. If he eats a whole one tonight, too, he can try to eat 3 tomorrow! We also spent lots of time snuggling and visiting. He was super alert and seemed very very interested in eating at food time.

When we visited Mylo this afternoon, he had graduated to an open bed. So he is able to maintain body temp and doesn't need any more time under the lights. He can also start wearing clothes. When we got there he had just finished eating all of his bottle so now he is able to take one bottle per day ( Read more... )

Mylo Cousteau was born at 4:50 am on 10/10, at 34.3 weeks gestation. He weighed 7lbs and 5 ounces and was 20.5 inches long and has fine brown wavy baby hair. He arrived after 3 days of induction and a fairly long labor. Birth was difficult for him and for me, but we've had excellent care. Mylo is so perfect and I love everything about him that I've had the time to notice, I like the smell of his head, I love his dark fuzzy hair and I love it that he knows that we're on the same team. It was so amazing to see Mylo and Jeff together getting acquainted -- they seemed to be aware that they are a part of a shared history ( Read more... )

So in my last post, I talked about how things are a little irritating because I can't do much now.
