LJ Cuts

First let me say, I don't mind long entries on my F-list. If you're on the list, it's because I want to read you. Although large images do tend to break my layout, that's my stuff not yours. Anyhow, this is a quick post on the art of lj-cuts, because two different folks asked here and here.

Here is LJ's FAQ on the subject.

So that's how you got the spiffy line thing. Also, I covet your layout.

Thank you! That means a lot. You had a purple and black layout, and coveting is the perfect word for how I felt about it.

Um, I was playing with layouts yesterday, so I don't actually know which one you saw, lol.

Ok, now what I want to know is how to make your post a Memory for myself? I want to be able to go back to it, it's so useful!

Usually if you go to the "read comments" page (or "leave a comment" if there aren't any comments yet), and there will either be a link at the top of the entry that says "memories" or else a little red heart and a + sign on a gray button. Click the link or the button and it adds the entry to memories.

Thanks for the tips. By the way, is that a purple crayon in your icon, or Mace Windu's light saber? ;)

That's Harold! Don't tell me you never read Harold and the Purple Crayon as a kid?!? OphL, I sense an emergency intervention at hand!!!

haha I've heard of it, but no, I never read it. When I was a kid, all that I was ever exposed to in reading was Dr. Seuss, The Bearenstain Bears, and Sesame Street books. Then when I got to 3rd grade or so, I went straight to the Indian In The Cupboard, Bunnicula, and stuff like that. Then in 5th grade, I jumped to Stephen King, so my children's book reading was limited. The purple Crayon looked like Mace Windu's light saber to me. hehehe

You were probably a little young for Captain Kangaroo, which is where I first encountered Harold and his purple crayon. Harold defined his world from inside his footie jammies with that crayon. Plus I love purple. :)
