SUMMER IN SEPTEMBER?

Some weeks ago I was told of this interesting course that is to be held at the same place in Greece where I spent a month in 2007 - namely Lesvos. The course I'm interested in, is in mid September this year. There are two different subjects to be discussed: Philosophy for non-philosophers and The mysteries, the wine and the sexuality. The second could be something about the Bacchus (Dionysus). The wine is an obvious reference, but also there was ritual madness. The Dionysian mysteries were supposed to be the most secretive of all of the gods. He stood for freeing oneself by wine, sex or madness. Sounds like a very interesting class!

Yes, I would assume Dionysus is a big part of it, all three key words match up. I'm also thinking there might be a Sappho link, as she lived on the island, but who knows. I'll email them and ask for more info, both on prices and content.

I agree that it sounds like a very interesting class - glad I'm not the only one thinking that! That's promising.

Oh! That course looks sooo tempting... I'm fairly sure I'll have neither the time nor the money, but still - a girl can dream... :)
