GREEK RENAISSANCE WOMEN
Cause I love Greece, and I love the Renaissance style... It should however be noted that what was considered Greek in the 16th century has switched borders probably several times. TRAVELING AGAIN
So it seems I'll travel a lot this autumn.
First up is a trip to Vicenza in Italy. This is the city blessed with fantastic architecture by Andrea Palladio. I visited it some years ago, on a study trip, and have been in love with Palladio's work ever since. Especially his villas. SUMMER IN SEPTEMBER?
Some weeks ago I was told of this interesting course that is to be held at the same place in Greece where I spent a month in 2007 - namely Lesvos. The course I'm interested in, is in mid September this year. There are two different subjects to be discussed: Philosophy for non-philosophers and The mysteries, the wine and the sexuality. One of the most beautiful songs I know is by Mikis Theodorakis, a Greek composer born of the island of Chios. He's most know for his "Zorba the Greek" movie music, but he's also composed lots of choral and operatic work, fusing Greek folk tones with the classical tone of the west.
