You're a Wizard, Harry! Which House Would These Skaters Be In?

Sep 01, 2013 17:16

The offseason is just about over but I'm still drowning in boredom so I thought (because I have way too much time on my hands)--let's sort the skaters into Harry Potter houses! I never read Harry Potter a s a kid but read (more like was forced to read) the books when I was a teen due to my best friend's addiction to it.

There are four houses:

True. He's also immensely loyal (patriotic as well). Culdn't see him with anyone else other than Frank as a coach.

I'm tempted to put Chan in Gryffindor almost....because of the arrogance and "lack of common sense" (why would you say you're not proud of being Canadian a few months before the GPf is in Quebec?! Oh my god, Chan. Stop puttting your foot in your mouth.)

This is an awesome thread!

I would put Jason Brown either in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, due to his non-traditional style and "out there" sense of artistry. Leaning toward Gryffindor; I can see him getting along really well with Fred and George.

Speaking of twins, the Shibutanis are definitely Gryffindors. : D

Chan I would say is either a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw. Takahashi, I would put in either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor.

And how about some skaters from the past? Kurt Browning: definitely Gryffindor. Michelle Kwan: probably Ravenclaw. I would actually put both Yamaguchi and Ito in Hufflepuff, because they both struck me as hard-working to a fault. And I would put both Harding AND Kerrigan in Slytherin, LOL! : )

Shibs are for sure Gryffindors! :) I'd put Takahashi in Gryffindor because of the knee surgery in 09. He seems like the resilient type, confident as well.

What about the rest of Team Japan? I neglected Nobunari (I'd say Slytherin since he once worked with Morozov and is apparently a descendant of some Samurai clan or something...?)
Miki?
Akiko?

I don't know all the Japanese skaters well enough to sort them, but an argument can be made that anyone who trains under Morozov is a Slytherin. ; )

Michelle, I could see her being like Hermione: that hat debates whether to put her in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor but settles on Gryffindor. I feel like the most popular skater of all time has to be a Gryff since it's the "best" house.

Tara Lipinski - Slytherin

all the 90s Russian ice dancers: Slytherin except Platov who is a Hufflepuff.
Torvill/Dean = Gryffindor?, Rahkamo/Kokko = Ravenclaw, Anissina/Peizerat = Marina in Slytherin, Gwendal in Hufflepuff?

Barbara Fusar-Poli is such a Slytherin.

Johnny Weir: now here's a hard one to sort. Even the Sorting Hat would be scratching its crown over this one ( ... )

I'm also Ravenclaw so I don't have the balls. Even if I did, I honestly don't think he's read Harry potter considering he would have been what...fourteen when the books came out? He's slightly out of that age group. I dunno.

In an interview, he's said that his parents read Lord of the Rings to him and his little brother, and he once had the whole trilogy memorized. So JW reading Potter is not out of the realm of possibility. He's at least seen the movies (attended the premiere of one in shorts. In November.)

flawless post!

I think Borser is too new/young to be a founder.

I would choose John Nicks for Hufflepuff. He works hard (finally slowing down at age 84!), is loyal (came out of retirement for Sasha), but can be a bit of a pushover (couldn't handle Sasha). And while I wouldn't call him stubborn, he's got that dry British humor, insists on everyone calling him Mr. Nicks, and a lot better at coaching style than teknik (I don't think any of his skaters have had a proper lutz but their laybacks are all gorgeous).
