‘Magic Mike’ Is Big Draw for Gay Men

Men flirted and showed off their muscles through tight-fitting tank tops. Women with no shoes gyrated next to men with no shirts. A D.J. played deep beats. man, I really want to see this, but I don't have anyone local who will go with me. all my trashy friends who would go with me to see Magic Mike and hoot and holler in the theater live out of town. clearly I have befriended too many classy people in this city.

Well, isn't this article ... quaint.

I'm slightly annoyed by how heteronormative the movie was, with the exception of the one bi girl, the lightly implied foursome, and the booze so strong it could turn even a male stripper gay. Especially considering how it was marketed, that is. But then, gay men weren't part of the original target audience, so I guess it makes sense we'd be largely ignored in the mainstream yet again.

Seriously... it's like, there aren't any real mainstream movies for queers. So why is it suddenly a suprise that queers like a mainstream movie? Oh, wait, that's right... it's because we're supposed to be in our little designated areas watching stuff at Sundance or something, because clearly we're only allowed to like stuff that is specifically targeted at us.

lolololol a lot of gay/bi/queer dudes might enjoy seeing other dudes stripping and showing off all those body parts. how utterly shocking.

like, idk when i saw the trailers for magic mike, the plot looked meh and the stripping part was really played up, so i'm not sure how many people of any gender are going out in droves to see this movie strictly for its plot and meaning~
