sex scandal =/= Rape aviv_b February 21 2012, 22:26:05 UTC
Not blaming the OP, but whoever wrote this aritcle is FOF (full of fail).

What's with "Few in France doubt that, but for the sex scandals, it would have been Strauss-Kahn and not Francois Hollande running against Sarkozy..."?

Sex scandals? Maybe this time, but where I come from rape is not a sex scandal. Nice way to minimize his behavior.

Far too many articles say sex scandal to describe rape. I remember once when Oprah described a rapist who locked young women in his basement as a man who went on sexcapade....

omg this is such a problem in the media. I am so done with calling rape and assault a "sex scandal", but apparently the media isn't.

I don't speak French, so I can't really decipher this, but this is the quote ("il" is the lawyer in question): "Il pouvait parfaitement ignorer qu'il s'agissait d'escort girls, car figurez-vous qu'à ces soirées, on n'est pas forcément habillé et je vous défie de distinguer une prostituée nue d'une femme du monde nue".

From here.

Thank you, google translate and five years of Spanish.

edited for coding fail.

Frenchie here. Yeah, I'd translate it as 'socialite'; the original french definitely hasn't got the same stark opposition between quality and sex work it has in the translation.

In what way? What is his appearance got to do with his crime?

Absolutely nothing, but he's a horrible person and that expression he's making in the photo looks like he's angry for being called out for being a horrible human being. That to me, looks like a villain.

If only we could identify 'villains' by appearance...I would know who to avoid.

His actions are horrible, the photo was obviously picked because it was not flattering, it's common in journalism to do that.

But appearances really mean nothing when it comes to whether a person is good or bad.

I know it is horrible, but the only thing I can think of when I see this picture is that he looks like a frond of Woll Smoth.
