I don't speak French, so I can't really decipher this, but this is the quote ("il" is the lawyer in question): "Il pouvait parfaitement ignorer qu'il s'agissait d'escort girls, car figurez-vous qu'à ces soirées, on n'est pas forcément habillé et je vous défie de distinguer une prostituée nue d'une femme du monde nue".

Frenchie here. Yeah, I'd translate it as 'socialite'; the original french definitely hasn't got the same stark opposition between quality and sex work it has in the translation.

yeah, "femme du monde" implies a woman of quality, or a woman of high society.

Yeah, that's "I defy you to distinguish a nude prostitute from a nude [society woman/socialite]." The rest of it is a bit more complicated, but rather...ugh.
