I am so unbelievably upset about this. We know a wonderful fellow queer couple down there, and they're engaged, and it's just going to break my heart on an especially personal level if the people of North Carolina give them the collective finger like this.

Why the fuck do people have the right to vote on people's basic right to marry each other? I MEAN: SERIOUSLY?! It's like telling a state of people, "Alright, time to vote on whether or not to eat ice cream on Sundays is illegal!"

It seriously blows my mind. Nobody has the right to vote on someone's love life: nobody. It is so sick and sad that it has to come down to this.

I'll have to get my registration updated in March after my wedding since I won't be in the same district anymore. Going to go vote against this at all costs!

I found out later that this was a closed session and they did not let people come in and speak out about this, including a large group of religious leaders who are against this marriage amendment. It's so ridiculous!

They're beating the 'OMG Evol Gays' drum for the primaries. It's about PR, not people.

Oh man, I just want to curl up with Buncombe county and pretend like the rest of the state doesn't exist and this fuckery isn't taking place. I've met a lot of awesome queer people and families through PFLAG events in my hometown and it breaks my heart to think about how this will affect them. :/
