Her apology made me laugh. It's everything we ask of people in high profile positions who mess up, yet it's still so insincere. Hits all the buzzwords like a hollow drum.

Notice she never directly apologized to the girls, though.

It hit all the buttons on "How to Make a Fauxpology."

fuck this asshole and i'd say that if she belonged to any other party or claimed no party.

first of all, it's a damn TURKEY PARDON. he wasn't giving the State of the Union address. no doubt the girls wanted to be with their friends instead of listening to a goofy speech.

second, what the hell is inappropriate about their outfits? you want to see what "dressed up for the bar" looks like, dumbass? try googling the Bush twins' drunken escapades. you know, when they were UNDERAGE DRINKING and RACKING UP DUIs--aka COMMITTING CRIMES.

i'd like to hope her ass gets fired but I'm sure that her boss secretly approves of her slander and will just slap her wrist.

side note to OP: you have a broken tag that reads "puttin\".

Oh, but the Bush girls got a pass and we kept that quiet 'cause they're white. Sssh.

It's so fucking ridiculous the way Obama's daughters are held to an entirely different standard than "girls will be girls" Bushies' little golden--you know what, I am too angry to finish this.

Right? I remember writing on my own LJ about their behaviors, and I had this "friend" lecture me about needing to respect children or something by not blasting them because they have the misfortune of being in the spotlight.

I just want to point out that when Bush was elected, I was 16. So, the Bush daughters were older than me. Legally, they weren't old enough to drink, but they weren't minors, either.

There really is a double standard with the right wing (and humans in general but it seems to be particularly bad with the right); they would scream at anyone who they thought were disrespecting Bush but they can feel free to say the most horrendous things about Obama and scream when you call them on it. I'm sure if Obama was white he'd get it just for being a Democrat, but because he's not white he gets a whole ton of shit more because of it.

I wish I'd kept all of the "you have to respect the office" crap I got from other people during the Bush years just so I could spit them all back now.

If it took her "many hours of prayer" to figure out she screwed up, then I'd classify her prayers as totally ineffectual.

this exactly.

I was thinking that, too.

And I'm kinda worried that someone had to resort to "many hours of prayers" before apologizing, in general. Just--really? Geez.

"But WHY, God? WHY do I have to apologize?"

Yup, the Republicans are always the first people to look to when you want a lecture about having "class."

What does the Republican Party know about class?
