I want to see the producers really drop their balls on the table and say SUCK 'EM.
The Stand's climactic centerpiece involved a nuke. A small nuke. It took out Vegas. Okay.
Whatever else happens by the end of LOST, they should take out half the fucking planet. All this shit, it's about destiny, right? Things only end once, blah blah, what happened, happened. And there was some shit that we kinda left behind about how maybe the numbers predicted the end of mankind
( ... )
I know that the button was saving the world and everything, but due to the nature of the show (i.e. for most of the time they've been trapped away from civilisation), the events in Lost haven't really seemed to have much to do with the world and mankind as a whole, to me.
I'm still not sure how to feel about The Button in terms of what pushing it was actually supposed to be doing. Was it really 'saving the world'? I doubt it somehow.
Now, might the Dharma folks have set it up after The Incident (which I still firmly believe was always meant to happen the way we've seen it play out) in order to release the excess energy from that pesky pocket of electromagnetic energy or whatever, thereby saving the Island from complete destruction? I find that much more plausible.
