From the Reddit post: "Messi's agent has just got in touch with Daniel Levy as we speak to see if Tottenham will pay for his Flight & medical to Chelsea" Why would they do that? Either way if this is happening than it will definitely beat the day Torres went from Liverpool to Chelsea.

"Alexis Sanchez 'recovers very quickly' says Arsene Wenger after opting not to rest the Arsenal forward"
Don't you realise that everyone lost trust in your handling of the physical condition of the players, Arsene?

Tbh if there is anyone who deserves to be called the Beast, it's Akinfenwa.
I still think it's the right decision to let Gerrard go. Liverpool has to move on. I think he could be of value in the same way Lampard is at City but that would mean sitting on the bench more often than not. But pinning all hope on a 34-year-old player would be bad management and will lead to nothing.

And it's good for him too, in that for the first time in years, he'll be able to walk around with his family and do day to day activities without being recognised and pressed upon. Actually, Rodgers introduced the concept of him as a 'supersub' ala Lampard, but Gerrard didn't want it (if I'm understanding his interview correctly) so he decided to go. I get that. In addition, it would be good for LFC in the sense that without Gerrard shielding them, supporters can have more pointed criticism re: the management of the club, that sort of thing ( ... )

I don't know a lot about the board at Liverpool I have to say. That all sounds a bit shady. But building a team around Gerrard in 2012 was already leaving it late.
Well either you pay a lot for a very good player or you don't pay much for potential. But Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal too are now paying a lot for potential. And that brings you not very far. It is a burden on the potential because they fail to live up to their reputation and the top players leave because they are ahead of their teammates.

There are not a lot of top coaches. Barcelona are still struggling to find someone like Guardiola. It will be interesting to see if Koeman and De Boer can take that step up to the biggest clubs. A lot of Koeman's success is based on his good signings. He knew most of his new players very well already. Pelle and Tadic from the Eredivisie and Alderweireld used to play in the Netherlands too.

the Tottenham bit was a joke, apparently about how some other player's transfer had gone about

Hmm wow, I've always seen Messi as a one-club player, but it is weird he's following Chelsea now and their players (that he otherwise doesn't have a relationship with) and apparently even Mou's daughter (??) ... He must be aware that people see who he's following tho, right? However, Mou has insisted multiple times they're not changing their squad in January (although yes he can't be that trusted haha and probably no one would say no to Messi; unless we're talking about a summer transfer?) and who would be left out to make space for him in the line-up? So, I can't see this happening, but the whole Instagram/Twitter thing is weird.

So Balo played yesterday? Man, I'm not surprised to hear about the teammates passing him, everyone is desperate for him to score, lol.

Lol, Super Mario's situation was like that Spain-Luxembourg match when everyone was desperate for Diego Costa to score his first goal.

I don't have instagram so I can't look it up but I read somewhere that he also follows Man City.
Although I think that Courtois will feel flattered. Messi failed to score against him in their last, I don't know how many matches.

Yes, I read about that from those who like Kunessi, how Agüero's club is (well, was) the only other club Messi followed. :)

The troll in me loves this. Messi moving from working under Guardiola to Mourinho at Chelsea?

Well Cesc already did it and he played against Mou his entire footballing career (save for the Inter years) right up till August. Plus, he and Hobbit Prince are close friends so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in whatever-this-is.

Akinfenwa was great. Granted, he fouled the Liverpool players a lot but it was really cute seeing him fangirl after the match.

I'm sorry, I don't want Lloris going anywhere near Real Madrid. He should be at a bigger club than Tottenham but not Real Madrid. Why do people start such stupid, ridiculous rumors?!

If the Burnley-Spurs match turned out as dull as the reports say, then I guess it's a good thing they didn't air it then. Also: dear Chadli, please don't ever shave.

And silly Grandpère, Alexis isn't a bionic man.

Edit: Juventus are interested in getting Wesley Sneijder! I hope this happens!

No offence to Cesc but... he's not Messi jazzypom January 6 2015, 09:58:05 UTC
When you think Barcelona, you think Messi, you think of the Ronaldo vs Messi rivalry. You don't think.. Cesc.

League 2 and League 1 players scrap, it is what it is, although from what I've gathered, the standard of play is getting less - English hoofing the ball, and a bit more skilled, because coaches are watching Guardiola's training with Bayern, and they read articles on line re: positional football and the rest of it. It was an interesting article about how the democratisation of information and internet means that the game in the lower leagues is changing - less physical, more technical.

If Tottenham reaches CL competition this year, he'll stay, if not, Lloris might start looking elsewhere. But to be fair, at Tottenham, he's in a competitive league as a first choice player and captain. If he isn't going to get enough playing time elsewhere, I'd stay with Tottenham for now.

Lol, Cesc wishes he were Messi.

I think it's excellent, re: technical aspect of lower leagues. And I hope it spreads to the higher leagues. The fast pace of the PL is exciting but there has to be an all-roundedness to it. I think the BuLi is superior in that aspect (like that excellent Neverkusen-Gladbach match).

And I hope it spreads to the higher leagues. That will take time. I think because in England, for a long time, we were only exposed to PL matches, then Sky took those away and BT, so it's only recently that they've started having BundLi matches (on ITV3) and BT sport is now showing La Liga matches, and with internet now showing clips and the rest of it, you get the feeling that footballers coming up now are expected to to look beyond English shores (for instance, Wilshire getting tasked to watch Alonso and Pirlo's matches, and then getting coached like that in his game- when he plays :S) is better ( ... )

omg these messi to chelsea rumors are giving me life! i guess he believes in the saying: "If you can't beat them, join them." lol

though tbh if he was to really go to the PL i thought he would choose Man City because of kun and they've shown interest more than chelsea have.

controversy in the Roma match! Was the ball over the line or not? Close call but I'd say it's a goal.
