I think Barcelona are playing against another Spanish club too?

Yeah, the pictures of the fans showing up and being eager was the best part of the post, tbh. Sometimes when I'm doing the posts I tend to side eye stuff while compiling, but at the end of this post I was grinning. But yeah, Real Madrid going to finals of, and winning everything (the Club World Cup in Makarresh was the other day, right?) then off to Dubai. Compared to AC Milan's marginally lighter commitments I can't blame the players for being jaded.

I wish Mourinho would use his academy prospects more (Luftus Cheek is acknowledged as class), but I think he wants a trophy this year, be it PL or FA (he's had an interesting comment re: the FA and their attitudes towards the Champions League, I wish the host had pushed him more about it, but her remit is horses, sooooo) hence him sticking with the line up he knows will win him a result.

I think the pressure on him is quite high this season after they failed to win anything last season. Never change a winning team they say and it's logical. But it can come back to bite them in arse when they try to juggle 4 competitions.
It's a shame that Chelsea buys 40 players only to loan 35 of them out and let the rest rot away on the bench. And then there are the youth products. They have to give them at least some playing time or they lose time in the most important years of their development.
There are enough chances to give them some playing time as a sub or even as a starter, if you start 10 of your regular starters and 1 youngster, the team will hardly fall apart.

Yep, you speak sense. To be honest with you, the Christmas matches (traditionally) were used to give the young and upcoming academy prospects a run out. Short of having a coach that's committed to academy talent (Pochettino and Koeman come to mind, as well as that Burnley coach. Um... mind is blank) and having them break through the ranks (under Pochettino's reign at Spurs, Adam Lallana and a handful of others came through, and now Harry Kane (and others) are getting blooded in, and the teams are looking good. Chelsea- tch. Shameful. I wish the media would hound Mourinho on the lack of game the academy talents aren't getting.

I love the fan pictures! Some shoddy playing from Real Madrid and even with Varane, their defense was non-existent but since it was a friendly, they have time to learn from their mistakes and prepare for the match on Sunday against Valencia.

Shirtless Bale is something that I don't wanna see. Now if it was Varane, I'd be all for it.

the fan pictures are the best thing tbh jazzypom December 31 2014, 12:47:52 UTC
The Real Madrid fans felt so let down, they didn't even post it on their tumblrs. Going, "It's ONLY a friendly, it means NOTHING, because we've won 3498754890 trophies this year." The AC Milan fans weren't that bothered as well, so I just got some photos from getty and co and threw them up.

Yeah, Bale. I'm just glad that I don't have to look at his face in the PL to be honest. They can keep him in Spain, and let him play separate and apart from the team (like he does anyway). Bleh.

seeing that sign reminds me of how my local dentist has a sign that is written in completely wrong grammar. i wonder if it's a foreigner who wrote it and got it wrong or if google translate was used

Lavezzi and Cavani were no shows at the PSG - Inter friendly yesterday. Lavezzi is for sure getting sold come summer and Cavani's future seems highly uncertain. Honestly, as much as I love Lavezzi he looks as if he's been struggling since the season started. I felt like they were going to offload him next summer anyway. Especially since they were trying to sell him to get Di Maria and things reportedly went sour after that :( there's also the argument he had with Blanc not too long ago

Cavani... Well, I don't know what to say about that. He hasn't lived up to his price tag (PSG's own fault tbh) and he just can't seem to consistently put out good performances. For every one goal netted he fucks up three or four chances or sends shit flying into the stratosphere. There's a chance both of them will be fined by the club.

Hopefully we can pick up a better replacement striker because Ibra's old creaky ass (I say this with lots of love and affection for the big Swede) can't keep us afloat much longer.

Lavezzi has been linked to Liverpool jazzypom December 31 2014, 15:23:26 UTC
But he can't find the back of the net (so I hear) although he's a solid player everywhere else. In addition, he's going to be on stupid wages wherever he goes.

Cavani keeps being linked to teams in the Premier League, but that gun salute will go down like a lead balloon over here, and I can't see him leaving in January.

So the international was that dread huh? How do you think you'll do in the CL when it starts in Feb?

Well, Cavani's been persistently linked to Arsenal but he (and his general ridiculousness) is not what we need right now. Looks like Naseer will sell him to some PL club for an extravagant amount (50 million GBP was what I saw in the Telegraph).
