Oh dear. Spanish media is so fucking dramatic. Xabi is entitled to his opinion though, and I bet most footie fans are in an agreement with him anyway. No need to spin everything into some soap opera saga.

I heard that. jazzypom November 21 2014, 14:35:40 UTC
Someone translated the original comment for me (from the German) and it's actually pretty measured re the Ronaldo diss.

From his POV, competition for the Ballon d’Or of his Munich colleagues and world champions only comes from the Primera Liga. “The fundamental question is: does only individual, personal achievement count? In that case, it’s tough against Messi and Ronaldo. Or is it success with the team? Then the Germans have the best chance. In any case, I wish my colleagues at Bayern best of luck.”

The more I think about the Casillas vs Neuer stick, I think as a midfielder, if anyone should have an opinion of what works for him in terms of a goalie, he would I reckon. I'm just lol'ing at the dust up over tumblr, and wondering how they've dragged Steven Gerrard and Liverpool into it (something a bit crude that made me laugh). We have our own worries, to be going on with. Bayern and Real are sh*tting in high grass, as they say.

It's a very diplomatic & measured response and very Xabi tbh. Pressed stans & media brouhaha are always the worst culprit. Poor Stevie G ain't got no time for this shit LOL.

that's his real twitter account, only the text is fake. it would be funny if he tweeted that, though i'm sure he doesn't have that kind of sense of humor. lmao

Carlo had a presser and he was asked about Xabi too. (GOD, WHEN WILL IT END??) Of course, he answered the way I expected/wanted Carlo to answer: "I read what Xabi Alonso said. It is an opinion. I hate to get into this kind of statements. Xabi has given his personal opinion on the goalkeeping & BDO. He is one of the few people who doesn't think CR will win the BDO. It is normal for Xabi to think like that, Neuer is his teammate." "Casillas or Neuer? Why make comparisons ... I'm happy with Iker and Guardiola must be happy with Neuer,"

Pah. Squash this issue now, media. It should've been a non-issue to begin with.

Xabi also had the odd run-in with Ramos. The last one just one week before winning 'la Décima' involved a heated dressing room argument.

I have no idea what this is about. :/ I tried to Google for it but I just ended up finding a video of Sergio breaking up a fight between Xabi and Arbie.

I can't believe Walcott is injured AGAIN, with doubt cast over Welbeck. At least Giroud and Arteta are back.

The reason that nobody misses him at Real is because kroos has been such a hit. And the others are in great shape too. If they hadn't improved after sociedad then we would read another story. This is just in response to the on field performance and not the lockerroom.

Good news for Acerbi.

Quoted for truth. It seems like everybody in RM loves Toni and it makes me very glad tbh.

'On tumblr, people are somehow dragging Liverpool and Gerrard into the Alonso/Neuer/Real Madrid/ Casillas kerfuffle'

Tumblr peeps do that sort of shit with everything.

Do you guys mind? Alonso left Liverpool way back in 2009, you had him and glory for five years. Munich will have him for the next two, and more than likely you two will be facing off champions league while we try and scrap out a top four finish for next year.

We're trying to rebuild, and invest in the future, because we can't attract marquee stars, like Bayern and Real Madrid, and that's fine, we'll find the ones for the future and use our status as a shop window for the bigger clubs to come and take them.

Our Gerrard might be slipping through the January window, and again, that's fine, players shouldn't be bigger than the club anyway- we're shaky you know?

Why are y'all bringing us in to the argument?

Sorry, crabby Liverpool fan, here. It's been a rough few months.

It's all a rumor at this point, but basically Liverpool and himself are thrashing out contracts. A couple of weeks ago, Gerrard revealed that his contract runs out in May 2015 and that the club hadn't offered him a new one. Not that contracts are necessarily binding, but it protects the club in that the player won't leave for free, and it protects the player because it shows that he's worth something to a club yeah? I think Liverpool held off contracts with him, and they've only started to make noises this week ( ... )
