There was another patient, who had a decidedly much shorter stay. The acid burns were treated - and seemed to be healing on their own, anyway - and after that, there was just a general examination and said patient was let out onto his own. Police would come to him later, asking for a statement. But for now, he could head home, or to a bar, or whatever he felt like.

Had something to do first, though.

Big white sneakers pressed against the Hospital's tiling, up stairs, around hallways, until finally reaching his destination.

Knocking twice at the doorframe, in stepped - who else? - Luffy's boss, in jeans, a black t-shirt, and a leather jacket.

"Hey. How ya doin', kid?"

"Want out of here" Luffy replied in a low voice. He looked up as Caiman stepped in, and seeing his boss' snout all bandaged up he felt incredibly guilty.

He couldnt remember much, but he had vague memories of Caiman fighting the evil doctor. Apparently, Caiman had gotten hurt and this was because of Luffy's decision to go after Muraki. If it wasn't for Caiman, Luffy knew he would have been dead by now after much worse.

"Caiman... I'm sorry" He started, his voice breaking on the last word.

"Don't worry about it. You just gotta think a little bit more before you head off rushing to a fight, yeah? Next time you get some guy telling you he killed somebody, call the cops first. Here."

Caiman pulled something out of his jacket pocket - a fortune cookie, and a wrapped gyoza.

"Thought you could use something to eat."

Luffy nodded, wondering why Caiman wasnt angry with him. He brightened when he saw the food.

Contraband, no doubt. The mean nurses were all about weird, editable food-substitute.

"Think you could undo my hands?" Luffy tried, wiggling under the restraints that refused to budge.

"Are you ok, Caiman? That doctor was strange...." He added, looking serious again.

He didn't know the kid all that well, but he supposed he knew him better than he knew most, and hospital food was just the shits. That's what roommates were for, right? To bring you greasy, disgusting fast food while in the hospital?

Of course. Jake knocked twice on the hospital door before pushing it open and waving the fast food around inside, preceding himself. "I brought you something slightly more edible," he said, smiling.

Luffy woke up from his nap and he was surprised indeed to see who was coming into his room.

"Jake!" He exclaimed, trying to sit up quickly and forgetting that the nurses still hadn't forgiven him for being bad and thus, he was still strapped to the bed. "Oww...." Luffy grumbled as he snapped back onto the bed after barely making it a couple of inches from the surface. "How'd you know I was here?" Luffy asked, curiously, but quite happy all the same.

Shrugging in a manner that seemed to imply, "What's it matter?" but indeed implied, connections, Jake simply said, "Ya hungry?" eying the straps with some amusement. The amusement was not for the straps -- it was because he sort of understood the sentiment. Sort of.

"Yeah!" Luffy was always hungry. Getting injured made him even hungrier as science seemed to have a love affair with giving specimens high metabolic rates. "Could you undo the straps?" Luffy asked, hopefully.

Maybe Jake would leave them undone. That would be nice.
