Usually, Vimes avoided places like this. The restaurants he went to had severely overweight waitresses named things like 'Maude' where they filled your cup with the bottom of the pot before serving you burnt bacon drenched in grease, rubbery eggs and toast helpfully devoid of any fiber whatsoever. Unfortunately, Dean had given Vimes information that Guilty Pleasures was run by Vescovo, so dutifully, here Vimes was. Checking it out. Not in uniform, because that was like putting a 'Shoot Me' sign on his back, but he had his gun and his badge, and that was enough.

Sickeningly cheerful elevator music tinkled as he rode up to the club. There went the cheesy saxophone ensemble, and oh, some asshole of a sellout was beginning to croon, and...

BOOM.

...That didn't sound like elevator music. Heart racing, Vimes gripped onto the side of the trembling elevator, its cables screeching above them. A piercing scream from outside of the elevator alerted him to the fact that things were exploding. The elevator swayed.

Don't snap. Don' ( ... )

Alucard, leaning against the wall of the elevator, watched his fellow occupants through his lowered lashes. Integra was checking her watch. The man who had just gotten on was impatient-looking ( ... )

Vimes gave a sharp grunt of pain as he felt his entire body jerk to the ground and the back of his head slam into a bar that was, apparently, far pointier than it looked. Grimacing, he reached a hand clumsily to the back of his head and noted with disgust that blood was trickling down his shirt. The pain didn't seem to register, though, nor were his eyes working ( ... )

The other occupant's response relieved Alucard, to some degree- not that he cared deeply about the life of a stranger, but it was nice to know there was an extra set of hands to help in this nightmarish situation. Integra was a deep-breathing weight on his lap, bleeding heavily from a forehead wound (but they always bleed so deeply, forehead wounds, so much blood you could go blind from it ( ... )

Outside, the city was cold. Streetlights shone the sidewalks, illuminating the faces of passersby. As Paul glanced out the window, he saw how round and waterfat their faces were. Their eyes were either placid like cows or narrowed and shifty with distrust. No in between. No medium ( ... )

Really, Usopp had been scared enough just coming to the place. Guilty Pleasures? It sounded like some strip club, probably with lots of alcohol and whips and drugs and... stuff. Still Otacon had named this place, and he had hardly seemed the type to go to strip clubs. He got excited over cute faces ( ... )

So- here was the thing. Otacon hadn't really, uh, known the name of the place until he and Usopp were standing in front of it. He'd looked up "good restaurant" online, found one close by with a good rating, and decided to take Usopp there to celebrate the final design of the BOCKS. (All restaurants were basically the same, right?) It wasn't everyday that something so phenomenally cute got created, and Otacon had ever intention of rewarding Usopp for all his intensive efforts. (He'd seemed so busy and stressed lately, too, like he was some kind of double agent about to be found out. Haha, poor guy.)

His embarrassment had been so intense when he first realized what he'd brought Usopp to that he fled to the bathroom for ten minutes. After hyperventilating three times in his stall, almost spilling water on himself from the sinks in a very awkward spot, and realizing he needed to brush his hair really badly, Otacon had staggered back to the table. It was time to be- be manly. And men owned up to their mistakes. So he picked up his menu, ( ... )

It was a rare night alone for Ken. But, he had just gotten paid, and figured it was time he took himself out for a semi nice dinner. He was wearing his nicest pants, and a shirt he'd found in the back of his closet, one of his few that weren't t-shirts.

The loud explosion made him start, and the rumbling caused him to dive under the table. It might have been nothing, but he wasn't going to take that chance.

This was really not what Zoro needed right now. First of all, he was trying to stay undercover. Caiman identified him and Zoro really, really, really didn't want to be caught by the police. So it was settled. He was lying low. Go to a motel under a false name, maybe, but he wasn't looking to get out of the city; his lack of faith in the judicial system assured him that it wasn't necessary ( ... )

Ken looked up at the call, his head swung from side to side till he saw Zoro. "Yes! What...what happened?" He said, slowly emerging from under his table, ever ready to duck back under should another explosion occur.

"Are you ok mister?" He said after making his way over cautiously. Ken himself wasn't really hurt, just shaken and covered in dust. "You've gotten yourself pinned really well..."

Great, just great. His one night out by himself and something like this happened. Ken could only hope it was just this building, that everyone outside was ok.
