Okay!  So I've got less than twelve hours to commit this menu here to memory, and for some reason, I don't think a memory palace is going to cut it.  It would help if everything was in English, but it's not, so I'm sort of going about it phonetically.  I know that the boss said I didn't have to do it all in one sitting, but you know, gotta make a ( Read more... )

I'd help, but I don't want to accidentally fry anything in there. :X

Duly noted and totally appreciated, Bill. Don't wanna come out of it thinking I'm an eggroll or something.

Right. Definitely don't want you introducing yourself to my twin brother as my eggroll.

I would suggest, if you are not the type inclined towards rote memorization to come with some mnemonic devices.

What, like, My Very Elderly Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas? Yes, it's true, I shall never forget the order of the planets, but something tells me that won't work with the whole menu. It'd have to be a really long phrase.

Like, War and Peace, long.

Perhaps not a phrase. Perhaps a little tune, or an acronym. It may be worth a try, at least.

Kid, I don't know where you're getting the idea that I operate like some white guy in the United States who needs his ass kissed before he can recognize good work.

Listen, boss, it's the Boy Scout in me, okay? Besides, I don't want to be the guy who stands between a customer and their. Um. Hoe. Hoedeopbap. Bip. Stuff.

Shit.

Hweh-dup-bap.

Listen, that menu covers several languages, and that's a Korean dish. Reggio Calabria doesn't have a lot of Koreans. Or Vietnamese, or Thai, or Laotians... which is really weird, considering the amount of immigration coming in, but eh. It's generally all Chinese and Japanese around here. If you want to learn the dishes that much, focus on Chinese and Japanese first.

Right. Chinese and Japanese first. That shouldn't be that difficult. I mean, I've seen the kung fu movies, I've read manga. Piece of cake. Just...a very long list of cake.

But tomorrow. Nine AM, sharp. I'll be there, boss.

Yeah, unfortunately, they wouldn't let them on the plane. Deadly weapons, apparently. Those six inchers -- they can be deadly.
