Hi, Ariana. I used to be kind of obsessed with helping people breastfeed, too. I guess I've transfered that energy into teaching middle schoolers. ;) My older son is SPD so I'm aware of sensory struggles. :)
I just got my certification in June. I ended up landing a part time job teaching Spanish (which was surprising to me, because it's been ages since I studied that subject). But I don't have an endorsement in Spanish and am choosing to get a Math endorsement instead and will transition to teaching math.
Sensory stuff is a PITA. Now that he's older (approaching 8 this spring) he can articulate when he's having a hard time which is helpful.
Ohhh math. That's fun. We're getting to the point with my 7th grader where I don't *know* all the math before we get to it so middle school math is an important issue in my life these days. Thankfully when I have trouble Khan Academy can usually bail me out.
William's 12 and he's doing SO MUCH better with his sensory issues. He is understanding what's bugging him, he's understanding that it bothers him more than a lot of other people, he's understanding what to do when he gets near overwhelmed. These have been HUGE steps for us. It helps that he's very logical. James is all about emotion and it's tougher for him.

I hope you've been well. I miss the heyday of TMBG fandmon here on LJ. Mostly because I miss interesting and cool people like you.
