He's gotten the fucking texts from his bandmates, received all the warnings and heads up that they could have possibly provided him with, because they know. [He's kneeling at the fridge, rummaging through the bottom drawer when he hears Karkat's voice. He doesn't react right away; keeps rummaging around for the chocolate he knows is at the back and when he can't find it, that's when he snorts and pulls his arm out. It drops to hold onto the door, and Gamzee turns his head to look at Karkat over his shoulder and he's grinning like nothings wrong. His face is painted, even.

But of course Karkat knows. Gamzee doesn't doubt the little fuckers been keeping tabs him the entire time. He thinks he should probably be touched, but mostly he's just fucking irritated. Like Karkat treats him like a child all the fucking time.

He keeps grinning.]

[ Watching him closely, Karkat doesn't budge. He just stands, stays there, breathes through the irritation and, maybe, the mild bit of fear. Fucking hates this shit, honestly. Like of all people to live with and have a thing for, it had to be the guy who is a completely fucking asshole when he's actually sober.

Which he is, and Karkat knows it. He hates these retarded games that Gamzee likes to play, the pretending and the acting and all of the attempts he makes so Karkat will believe otherwise just so he can

Karkat hates him for it, sometimes, and there's the occasional fleeting thought of if it's really worth dealing with the sobriety. He should want him sober, right? He shouldn't hate him when he is.

But whatever. Whatever. He just sighs. ]

It does fucking work that way when you're actually acting like yourself.
