cdramas : coming up next

I've got two more episodes of 怪侠一枝梅 (Vigilantes in Masks), and a few more of Chinese Paladin 3 (I suspect those will go quickly).

After these are done, I've decided to watch  笑傲江湖 (The Smiling, Proud Wanderer) because I keep hearing about it. This will be the 2001 version that for some reason is called Laughing in the Wind.

Oh, I was thinking of watching Smiling in the Wind (I actually love this eng title the most) as well. Even with my problems with it, it may be the 'best' adaptation we'll ever get.

I can't speak mando properly, it's hard for me to follow periods without subs. Ijimae is another beast because it's a fusion and the lines have a lot of cheeky HK comedic flavoring. Have you considered watching contemporary Cdramas because it's actually much more authentic normal speech?

Picking a difficult one was probably a bad idea :) Do you have any recommendations? I'm not very familiar with contemporary dramas in Mandarin.

What do you like? I don't think Cdramas do romcom well at all, they r a bit more stuffy and really love diving into social commentaries. So it takes patience and not the most edge of seat plot driven things ( ... )

Thanks! I'm trying out a couple of these at youtube to see how they feel.

I'm not really looking for romcom. I enjoy interesting characters, but it's hard for me to pin down what I like, exactly.
