cdramas : coming up next
I've got two more episodes of 怪侠一枝梅 (Vigilantes in Masks), and a few more of Chinese Paladin 3 (I suspect those will go quickly).
After these are done, I've decided to watch 笑傲江湖 (The Smiling, Proud Wanderer) because I keep hearing about it. This will be the 2001 version that for some reason is called Laughing in the Wind.
I'm not sure how successful my Yi Zhi Mei experiment has been. On one hand, it's been educational trying to watch an entire series in Mandarin with no English subtitles. But I think I really do learn more when I have the subs. I learn more because then I associate sounds with meanings through repetition. Like if I keep hearing wo daying ni everytime the subs say "I promise you", over and over again, that really seems to help me remember... dāyìng = promise.
Like flashcards, but with swords and romance!
But I know I'm nowhere near ready to go without a net. So I'll keep the English subs for now, switching over to Chinese subs when I want to investigate a sentence more closely.
