cdramas : coming up next

I've got two more episodes of 怪侠一枝梅 (Vigilantes in Masks), and a few more of Chinese Paladin 3 (I suspect those will go quickly).

After these are done, I've decided to watch  笑傲江湖 (The Smiling, Proud Wanderer) because I keep hearing about it. This will be the 2001 version that for some reason is called Laughing in the Wind.

What do you like? I don't think Cdramas do romcom well at all, they r a bit more stuffy and really love diving into social commentaries. So it takes patience and not the most edge of seat plot driven things.

I do find these very interesting to watch...as if I got a real glimpse into RL in CN, these all did quite well both in ratings and critical acclaims:

I've finished 潜伏/Lurk and Struggle not long ago. One is a spy story, the other is contemporary romance.

I'm a huge Chen DaoMing fangirl, and his contemporaries r usu quality guaranteed. I fell in love with him in 围城/Besieged Fortress.

I'm also a huge Chen JianBing fangirl, his Courtyard in Family Qiao is insanely good (but it's period), I've watched all his contemporaries and I liked them.

I've 外乡人 on my to watch list because I love the actor Huang Bo.
And there's a seminal oldie I have on hand but haven't watched: 十七岁不哭 (1997)

Thanks! I'm trying out a couple of these at youtube to see how they feel.

I'm not really looking for romcom. I enjoy interesting characters, but it's hard for me to pin down what I like, exactly.
