I don't have any formal wear. I can't even remember the last time I wore a dress. Or even skirt. Not since I had that stupid singing waitress job when I was thirteen.

But I'll manage to find something before then. I plan on attending; feel I must as the first mate. I'm not sure if the Captain is going to ( Read more... )

I don't have anything to wear, either. I doubt most of the ship does. It's like they're mocking us.

I feel that way too. As if pirates would bother with formal wear. Fortunately I have a connection on the Winding Way. I'm asking her if she has some stuff she could lend since they probably have more than enough outfits.

Want me to ask if she has something for you?

I hate this so much.

You do? Really? Er. Yeah, ask.

A couple, actually. What's your size?

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I intend to attend the gala and announcement of peace terms.

I've my own suit, so there will be no need to hunt one down for me; I imagine finding one in my size would be a trial on short notice.

Hopefully they will permit me to keep my cane with me during the event.

Ok, that is good to know, thank you Brook.

I do not think they would, I am more concerned about their reaction to your, ah state. I would be careful...many Ivonians aren't particularly fond of demi-humans and I have a feeling such might be the case of some of the people we might run into.

I was planning on staying in the background as much as I can manage. When that is not possible, I shall be a perfect gentleman. Hopefully that will calm the less...accepting dignitaries.

I'll be frank - I suspect that this will all wind up going awry at some point. I'm attending so that, in the event something does go wrong, I can be of use (though, I'll admit that I am curious as to the settlement they have come up with). If nothing comes of it, and I spend an evening playing the wallflower, so much the better.

I do not blame you your suspicions, I'm certain many feel likewise. So I thank you for your concern and willingness to help and put yourself out there, Brook. It means a lot...though I suppose I can see why, a lot of our crew seems entirely too self-serving sometimes. I'll watch your back.

I've never been to a formal party before? So, I think I'll go. In fact, I think my mother made me pack a dress just in case of one...Although, I don't know what made her think that pirates would be going to a formal party.

That was a bit strange of her, but I suppose she is one of those who thinks it's always good to be ready. Too bad I didn't have the same insight as her.

I will say this, though, Amu. I would prefer it if you stayed, simply because things might become a little dangerous, but I will not force you. If you do come stay close to someone from the ship at all times.

My mother is strange altogether.

I do want to go, *cough* since I've kind of always wanted to go to a ball *cough*. But I will make sure to stay close to the crew members in case trouble does break loose.

Heheh, not a bad thing.

Alright, Amu. I'll be sure to make an account of that. Keep your head and senses up at all times.

I'll be goin' too Winry. I'dun wanna make Brook drag me out ta get a suit, then not wear it. That's jus' cold.

Not dat I know nothing 'bout fancy parties or anything. Dancin' and dates and being all polite an shit. Are we posed to introduce or selves? Cuz I don' think a fancy pants dignitarian will think 'Beat' is very funny....

Okay, Beat. Thank you.

It's been ages since I've been to a formal party. Last time I went was back when I was a toddler, practically. Wonder if I can still remember those dances.

But I wouldn't do so, unless the other person does. And if they do just say Beat; whether they take it or not is up to them but if they choose to make a big deal out of it, so much for their own sense of mannerly conduct.

The most important thing is to not let them get to you. Try to maintain as aloof yet courteous a disposition as you can.

I don't think the Cap'n would let me loan out our costumes, especially since we're pulling out soon. Sorry, Win! Your best bet would probably be to hit one of the dress shops they got here.

It's okay. I understand, figured I'd ask just in case; I don't particularly like wasting money on stuff like that. Do you know of any good places?

There was a shop Riku and I passed by on our date the other night that looked decent. It's just past the docks, with a huge bird on the sign.

Got you. Thanks a lot Rikku and uh. I was wondering if you could help me do something about my hair? I'm really not good at this sort of stuff...
