DAY 5, Evening / DAY 6 Morning

After dealing with the new Gunter and getting the recipe she needed for her super-special calming bath oil for the gift baskets, Gisela finally made it to the infirmary. She sent the other healer, Olga, out to find a full list of known doubles ( Read more... )

She expected at least one or two more doubles would cause her problems and decide the rules didn't apply to them. But she didn't expect to hear about it from a blubbering soldier.

She slammed her hands down on her desk as she demanded to know where he found the Other-Ulrike, and then shoved him aside as she marched out of the infirmary to find the woman.

It didn't take long to find her. She was hard to miss, and following the trail of soldiers and maids that had seen her led her right to the library.

Gisela was a startled to see a grown woman and not the child-like body of the Ulrike she knew. She squared her shoulders and stepped into the room, still keeping plenty of distance between them.

"Lady Ulrike?"

"I'm sorry. I only know you as Ulrike. I will gladly call you by another name if you wish." Gisela moved a little closer, but only by a step. "Do you know where you are? And how you came here?"

Some guy walked up to her. He was weird looking in some kind of uniform people wore years ago. After she shot two times at his feet and made him run, she saw a letter on the ground.

Gisela von Christ?? What the hell? Well, anyhow she was certainly not letting them do anything to her body. And she'd like to see them try putting her in quarantine.

Gisela had thought about what a doubles of hers might be like. She was pretty disappointed when the soldier returned to tell her what he came up against.

Great. Another high and mighty double. Didn't they have enough of these already?

"I would appreciate it if you stopped terrorizing the soldiers." Only one Gisela was allowed to do that, and it wasn't the one with the guns.

She stared at the other with her mouth slidly open.

"How the bloody hell did you get my face?" She asked, probably not the most intelligent question but all that she could come up with for the moment.

"The same way you got mine, I imagine." Gisela approached the other girl with a stubborn frown. "So tell me, can you not read, or do you just not know how to follow simple directions?"

Murata knocked on the door, holding a copy of Gisela's letter in her hands. "You wanted to see me?"

Gisela cracked the door open and peeked out. "Are you sane?"

((OOC: Is it okay if this is seperate from the Gwen/Gis/Gis thread? Don't want too many characters trying to coordinate at once. ^__^))

Murata smiled cheerfully. "Usually. And at the moment, yes."

((OOC: Just fine!))

"Good." She grabbed the girl by the arm and hauled her into the room, slamming the door shut behind them. "It's nice to hear your voice, by the way. I wish you had told me you weren't really Geika."

Stopping in front of the door he presumed to be the correct one, Yozak knocked firmly before slowly opening the door, still clutching onto the letter from Gisela.

Hopefully this part of the castle was the same here, he wouldn't particularly leave a good impression on the people here if he was found randomly walking into peoples rooms or womens bathrooms. He probably should've double checked with the solider who delivered the letter to him.

Gisela was just settling into a break from chaos with a cup of warm tea and a book when she heard the knock on her door. She sighed and set the book on her desk.

"Come in!"

Pushing the door all the open, at the invitation, Yozak stepped inside the room. "I believe you wanted me here, for some-" He glanced down at the letter. "-health screening?" He held up the letter, giving it a small wave.

"Yes." She stood and extended her hand to him. "I'm Gisela von Christ. I don't believe we've met."

Gisela tapped her pen on the edge of her tea cup, the rhythm uneven and agitated. She stared at the familiar name on her list until it blurred and danced back into focus. She thought she had been ready. Every time another double wandered into her clinic, she braced herself. But she never came. And Gisela felt relief each time, until one by one, every buffer between her and the inevitable was crossed off.

It was nearing noon, the end of her self-imposed deadline, and she still had not come. It was with a mounting sense of dread that Gisela realized she would have to track the woman down herself. The tea was supposed to calm her fluttering stomach, but with every tick of the clock it twisted tighter and tighter ( ... )

Julia turned away from the curtain she had been tying back from the window, unsurprised but still annoyed by the disturbance. She had received the note from the healer that morning, but had no desire to leave the room she had been given. Much of the morning was devoted to stretching out her awareness and familiarizing herself with the subtle differences in this world’s aura. Fortunately, it had no effect on the strength or depth of her maryoku.

“You may enter,” she called out, and made herself comfortable in the chair she had moved closer to the window. The midday sun was warm on her skin, and the faint scent of flowers drifted up from the garden below.

Gisela stepped into the room with a nod of thanks to the guard as he closed the door behind her. For a moment, all she could do was stare at the face of a woman she had watched die. Her mouth went dry and she felt a tightening in her chest. Finally, she managed to croak out a, “Lady von Wincott?” It felt wrong to call her Julia, and that may not even be the name she used.

Julia dipped her head and motioned to the other chair she had moved to the window in anticipation of this meeting. “Just Wincott. My family are no longer nobles.”

She heard the hesitant shuffle of feet as the girl moved across the stone floor and the rug placed at the foot of the bed. A faint smile pulled her lips as she turned her face back to the warm sun. “Lady von Christ, I assume?”
