Definitely an impressive film. Enough to make the viewer move in the seat. Tremendously immersive, worth seeing on the big screen. Excellent lighting, good camera work, realistic weapon handling. Excellent special effects.

Watching that film, I noticed that the protagonist family were all armed better than either the Federal or the Confederate armies, most having repeating cartridge carbines. The days of the regular Americans being able to match government firepower are sadly long-gone.

If I watch a French or a Czech film, it usually has subtitles for whatever languages are spoke on screen. If a character speaks German or Spanish, the words are subtitled.

Most American movies just put a caption [speaks German] or [Speaking Italian], the apparent assumption ( Read more... )

Summary: don’t waste your time or your patience.

Casting: very poor. Certain characters, such as Thorin, were mis-cast.

After the newest Red Dawn ended up even less plausible than the original, independent Dragon Day is in production. Looks like a better concept and likely better executed. While the foreign invasion may be far-fetched at this point, many of the technical concepts shown could show ( Read more... )

I have not gone to the movies in a very long time. Today, I ended up watching two in a row.

First was Brave 3D, which I very much recommend. The trailer for it did not do the movie justice. Excellent and somewhat unpredictable plot, good visuals, better acting by cartoon ( Read more... )
