Oooo, first he criticized your code, and then he was right!!! A double whammy! I fucking HATE that. If I had been in that situation and had said "you're right" immediately, I would have been okay with everything. But had I said "NO! Mine is better!" then the situation would have gone downhill with me trying harder and harder to defend my actions which I'd become more and more aware were wrong. (My pride is such a monstrous thing sometimes.) But the problem for me is that choosing one reaction or the other is first a split moment decision, and second, and this is what makes it horrible, the choice is always unpredictable. :o)

So I say feel mad! I would! :o)

LOL. See, that's the benefit of being old... er, older, I mean. I now have the wisdom *not* to go down that path. In my younger days, I would've done exactly what you described.

But a painful truth I've learned along the way is that it is always better to pull yourself *out* of a conflict and look at the bigger picture. I've learned to ask myself, "Ok, what are we trying to accomplish here?"

Here's a tenet I live by: People argue for one of two reasons - a) To solve a problem or b) to win. So, if it's about winning, I'm out.

It's not nearly as cool as your veggie mantra (which I love, btw)... but it works.

Cheers!
