My sister doesn't believe me when I tell her that Dirty Dancing is really about class conflict. She thinks the movie is no deeper than horny young people. It bugs me that she can't see past that.

To be honest, it is you who is oversimplified. Personally, I always felt Dirty Dancing was more as a commentary on the political discourse in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during the early 1960s. The struggle between Baby and Johnny was to mirror the struggle between Katanga and South Kasai. Penny's abortion was meant to symbolize the United States' and Belgium's abortion of the country's copper and diamond mines. To just think it is about white girl class problems? Educate yourself, tbh.

I roll my eyes anytime anyone suggests a remade movie or cover song ruins their childhood. Bitch, past tense. If it ruins your adulthood, watch the existing DVD or listen to the existing mp3 and consider yourself lame.
