as others have said, the discourse about this has been so annoying. like no, he's not exactly the worst offender of badly written female character or even just ignoring them in his works all together, but to act like it's not a worthy criticism is ridiculous. and to the people acting like nicole fucking kidman is so bitter unemployed washed up hasbeen that's jealous he's never offered her a role is even worse

i remember him once explicitly saying that he knew he wasn't capable of writing women properly so he just didn't (or something along those lines), and i always thought that was better than doing what nolan does, but every time a post like this pops up i try to find the quote and i never do so i'm starting to think i made it up lmao

but anyways while she is 100% right, i feel like this would be more meaningful coming from some like kirsten dunst who actively seeks to work with women and like half of her movies have been directed by women as oppose to nicole who's worked with like 5 female directors in the span of 30 years lol

I do think that at least I've enjoyed more of the supporting women in Scorsese's movies compared to Nolan as you said lol.

I think Kidman's trying to be better about it now. At least when it comes to all the tv she's been doing.
