I didn't know the Wild Robot was still in theaters! I wanted to see it, maybe I should just go by myself

I saw Venom 3 while slightly stoned on Friday night and it was incredible! It wad bad exactly the right way. It was cut together like the test audiences’ feedback was “huh?” It felt at times like two tonally completely different films that were sewn together by Dr. Frankenstein himself. It introduced a shocking number of new characters (a veritable who’s who of UK actors playing Americans). It definitely felt like set-up for a spin-off [Spoiler (click to open)]hopefully about Juno Temple and Clark Backo as symbiote scientist gfs that I will be first in line to see.

[Spoiler (click to open)]I will say though that the hardest part to swallow was the idea that in a post-Snap world, in which everyone knows about Thanos, there could still somehow be Mulder-style alien truthers. I’ve agreed to suspend a lot of disbelief but this just made no sense to me.

The Venom movies aren't (for the most part) set in the Marvel Universe! So there is no Thanos. Venom teleports into the MCU at the end of Venom 2, spends some time drinking at the bar (seen in No Way Home and the start of this one), then almost immediately blips back into his regular universe. There's a version of the bartender from Ted Lasso in both universes.

I watched a lot this week.

Time Cut was so bad. Not so bad it’s good but so bad it’s boring. The writing was atrocious and obviously just going through the motions. The twist was not the least bit good and that ending was bad. [Spoiler (click to open)]She really just stayed in the past with no government id? And went on with life knowing her parents didn’t see her as her own person with no resolution. 🤦‍♀️ Anora was good. I didn’t love it but I liked it. Mikey Madison was good ( ... )

Hate people talking sfm. We had a couple of talkers at our Juror #2 as well, but after the third time my husband SHHHHed them, they did finally shut the fuck up! Bullying works.

What was more annoying was that five full minutes before the film ended, the theater employees opened up the door from the (very busy) lobby to get ready to clean the theater, left the door open and then started having a full on convo where we could hear every sentence. It was immediately all you could hear. Some lady went out in the hall and was like "CLOSE THE DOOR, THE MOVIE IS STILL PLAYING" and I could have kissed her, lol. I said something on the way out, too, like... c'mon y'all, wait for the damn credits!!

And I like Stanley Tucci but ITA with your take, lol.

Love your husband and that lady doing what was needed! The heroes we need.

I saw Anora on Friday and generally enjoyed it despite the final act not really working for me. Very interested to see what projects Mikey Madison does next.

The second/middle act of the film was by far the best of Anora. My problem with the third act was that it dragged out too much, but I didn’t dislike the way it ended per se though.

I saw Smile 2 in an empty theater (legit alone) and had a great time. Skye Riley as an IRL pop star would be crushing it, although I would also hope IRL that [Spoiler (click to open)]she had a better support system than her mother who was more obsessed with her daughter's career than her daughter's wellbeing.
