i either make zero small talk or make small talk about the weirdest thing, last time i was at my doctor's, i ended up talking about window nets for mosquitos.

The hair salon is the worst for me. I’m stuck in a chair with someone using scissors on my head, and I just go blank. The poor hairdressers do try though and I’m just waiting for them to be done so I can leave. I do make sure I tip well so they know I appreciated their work.

The same woman has been cutting my hair for 30 years, she is a family friend, relative of a relative, and I can not make small talk with her other than answering what's up with my nephews XD

So what? I hate it that women are always expected to be friendly and to fill the silence. If someone isn't actively being super rude to you it's okay to just be -quiet-.

This reminds me a lot of the recent Try Guys video where new Try Guy Ash reflect on his ftm transition and he is just blown away at the fact that men are -allowed- to be quiet while getting a haircut. He mentioned that as a woman you feel this pressure to make small talk, and it was obviously a complete revelation to him.

In the rest of the video I also really noticed that Ash made a lot of 'Yes' and 'Uhuh' sounds when are people were talking because as well, women are expected to be super attentive and at all times acknowledge that someone (Specifically a man obvs) is talking. The cis men in this video did not do that at all because this isn't really expected from them. I found it such an interesting video tbh.

Lol now people are jumping on the bandwagon seeing how that journalist went viral, I can't with this. He's also praising Johnny Depp like that journalist too.

Some people just don't like small talk. That's your WORST experience? That someone didn't initiate small talk??? Jeez.

In part that's probably why Johnny has gotten so much support. He had basic courtesy for cast and crews which seems to be BIG in the industry because I guess you must have some terrible openly diva-ish or toxic celebs/film-makers that even another celeb doing the bare minimum is a rarity.

This is not me absolving Johnny btw, just an observation.

Well there you go. But I've probably heard more supportive about him from other celebs so I can see how that override the negative because it's been done for other celebs.

He's terrible regadless.
