Great premise for a movie.

I read the book about him and it was sooo good and it shows how history can be manipulated and forgotten, so glad more people will get to know his story with a movie!

I read that same book several years ago! It's fantastic, and such a compelling story.

i finally read it this summer too! i went straight into my first read of the count of monte cristo after i read it and you can tell how much of his life that his son used as inspiration for that. his life story was incredible.

Oui !!! This is what I want **

I read so many of his books when a teen XD They had so many twists and incredible scenes. The books during the revolution are still my favourites (Joseph Balsamo, le collier de la reine, Ange Pitou et la Comtesse de Charny). The ones during the religion wars are amazing too. If you can read anything from Dumas - and I mean, anything - you'll do yourselves a favour. Pure and unhinged passion and adventure.

i rly should dust off my french and give it another go. if i just put in a bit of time and effort i could probably handle it, but it's a bigger commitment than german or english. is there one you'd rec that's maybe a little approachable?

Les Trois Mousquetaires is very easy to read ♥ Joseph Balsamo too. They are probably the easiest ones from Dumas imo. The language contains a lot of "old" vocabulary so that's very impressive if you read it in french tbh **

thank you! i'll try to get my hands on either novel <3

it will prob teach me a lot of words that won't help me on vacation in france, but useless knowledge is best knowledge, so. i'm sure it'll be fun! (plus i do sth history-related, maybe one day it'll come in clutch lol.)

I'm very interested in this! Dumas père's writing drew so much inspiration from his father's life, it's rich material to explore in film.

Sidenote: can we also get a film adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's great-grandfather's life? Abram Petrovich Gannibal's rise from slave to general in the court of Peter the Great is nothing short of cinematic, just saying. (Pushkin's unfinished The Moor of Peter the Great is based on his great-grandfather's life.)
