man, this one really got me. probably the most parasocial emotion i have is how impressed i am by what a class act louis has been since the dust settled on the end of the band, especially in the face of so much loss - his mother, his sister, and now this. their friendship was such a spark of delight at a dark time in my life.

Louis has experienced a lot of loss early in life. I don’t know how he manages.

yeah, so many people thought he would struggle the most but he's been through SO much and managed to carve a path he's content with and keep his head together.
i also think it's interesting louis and zayn mention that liam was always the sensible one. a lot of the time the sensible ones end up being the most self destructive bc they feel they have to hide their issues and overdo it in secret. liam really spiraled the last few weeks, it clearly came to a massive head and ended so quickly :(

i think that’s really true about sensible ones (and, honestly, think there’s probably some connection between how comfortable louis was acting like the messy young person he was & the level headed adult he is now), and i also think “sensible because they’re grounded” and “sensible because they’re incredibly anxious and tense” can look similar in a lot of ways.

I wasn't a stan of 1D but this made me tear up ngl. A lot of us grew up alongside them, they were a huge part of the 2010's and pop culture of that time. I think anytime a celebrity who is your age moves on, especially one that leaves an imprint on pop culture and a specific point in time, it's difficult to put words to why it's so affecting. Like I said, I wasn't a stan but it's just so surreal. And seeing people on Twitter say that people who they haven't spoken to in years are out of the blue contacting them bc of this... kind of shows you how big the band's music/fandom was to a lot of people

I figured there would be a joint statement from 1D, and it never crossed my mind that Zayn wouldn't be part of it. He may have left early, but he was part of what made the band was it was. He shared the initial build up and onslaught of fame with all of them. He's as much 1D as any of them.

I wasn't surprised he was included and maybe "touching" isn't the right word bc you're right, he was part of the band. I just know there was a point in time where the other members wouldn't mention him because of how he exited.

He didn't want to be a part of them more than anything. Even if he wasn't mentioned in the statement it would have been his choice, not theirs.
