How awful. So sad for the receptionists that they tried to help and this result still happened.

Wow that’s terrifying for the staff. I think a lot of hospitality workers have had to deal with people who are drunk and belligerent unfortunately, so it really has to have been extreme for them to feel like his life was in danger.

there doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about mental health when it comes to people in hospitality, there's a girl I work with who switched from that to her current field (design) bc she was emotionally drained from people hurting/killing themselves during her shifts. it's just wild to think it happened so often to the point it drove her to quit the field entirely.

The scariest thing about working Hospitality and interacting with people who are under the influence and uncontrollable is that you have to maintain your professional demeanor and not be accusatory BUT also you pray that the authorities will speed their asses up in coming to help bc the situation can go from being irritating to deadly QUICK.

I worked in hospitality for years and it was the worst, most traumatic job I’ve ever had. Dealing with extremely dangerous drunk people is terrifying. And hey, at least at the end they get to leave you a horrifying review because you begged them to stop terrorizing the other guests and you. The whole job is a nightmare.

Daily Fail popped up on my FYP w/ an AI translation of the call and the comments were… something. So many claims that it was a fake call - with some “was he vaxxed?!” idiocy to boot. I need to stop reading comments.

Also, watching people debate whether he did it intentionally or if it was accidental is so weird when it’s clear that under the influence of who knows what.

I feel so bad for all of his loved ones, the hotel staff, and his ex (who has already been harassed to hell and back since this happened).

Yeah, in situations like this, I think the line between intentional/unintentional is meaningless because he was almost certainly so out of it on various substances.

I can’t get over how tragic this is. Maybe not in the sense that he was some great guy and it’s a big loss for humanity - but he was a big part of a lot of people’s adolescence, he had a kid, he had a family. It’s such a huge and shocking death and everything around it is just sad.

I don’t know how to verbalise this exactly but I hate how it’s sometimes only extreme events like this that make me appreciate how precious life is and what a gift to live is. Like the idea that everyone is so fragile, that this could essentially happen to anyone standing on a balcony (god forbid), and that there is sometimes only a split second (accidental) decision that separates life and death.

I just... that poor child is having the worst day of his young life right now. My heart breaks for him, and for Cheryl having to deal with something so huge as a parent

I am legitimately so concerned for her. I hope she’s off the internet completely.
