The theme song alone was enough to scare the unholy bejesus out of me (though, as an adult, I can appreciate the composition), so I noped the hell out of this and don't recall ever watching a full episode. The only moment that I can actually remember is one where they're both offering each other a cup of water because one of them has to go without it and risk greater dehydration.

So many shows would benefit from the UK model of less episodes per seasons, especially when shows with a lot of mythology.

idk I feel like people are complaining now about that streaming format which have shorter seasons but then it takes 2+ years wait to get the next season.

Whereas those 24 episode format is kinda missed because you had more time to digest the material and even could specific character episodes.

Like I see the pro and con of it.

I see the pros and cons of working on longer shows too. Like on one hand, you have steady employment for the majority of the year, stay in one location, continuity with co workers, etc. Actors could squeeze a movie in during the summer. On the other hand, I dunno how the fuck these drama and action shows did 20 to 24 episodes a year for years on end, especially something like XF that did a lot of night shoots. It just seems exhausting now.

Yeah I've def heard of actors being EXHAUSTED and DONE near the final seasons lol!! But on the other hand they seem to live much more private and comfortable (stable location) lives compared to movies stars. I remember Ellen Pompeo said staying on Greys for so long paid off cause she has like 3 houses, good paycheck, and can tuck in her kids at night.

Streaming seems more lax cause 8-13 episodes a season and then like 2 years in between projects so you have the opportunity to do other projects that traditional tv would limit BUT the residuals are c r a p for what I've read so to a degree the tradeoff is not good unless you have a good contract cause you're the lead or are already famous prior to joining.

Honestly the last episode made me so mad (SPOILERS BELOW)

Mulder developed this personality where he was all about being a dad out of NOWHERE. Then it’s revealed that the dad was actually cigarette smoking man and Scully was presumably artificially inseminated while she was unconscious. Very rapey, but that’s obviously completely glossed over. Then Mulder is sad because he’s not really a dad and they’ve just watched that kid be shot in the face and presumably die.

But hey - it’s ok! Scully is somehow magically pregnant again so FORGET about the baby she loved so much she gave it up to protect it. And then spent an entire story arc trying to find. THAT BABY DOESN’T MATTER ANYMORE.

THE END.
