I feel so sorry for him. he saw all that nasty hate from ot6 lovers and sm company employees talking shit and sacrificed his career for the sake of the groups reputation.

wobins weak open letter to fans did not help the situation. we will never know if the other members were truly supportive of his return but regardless this sours them for me. though I mainly blame sm. what a disgusting company.

and to those fans who sent death wreaths I hope yall have the awful life you deserve. props to that fan who removed ther wreaths and yelled at those ot6 assholes.

Seeing the funeral wreaths in front of SM was concerning. I don’t know anything about RIIZE but two SM idols have passed away in tragic circumstances and without context the sight of rows and rows of funeral wreaths can lead people to assume the worst. It just doesn't feel right to see funeral wreaths when no one has actually died.

I didn't even think of this perspective. It's another reason that behavior is disgusting and disrespectful.

this is truly insane and I feel so bad for him. international fans were so supportive of his return but it means absolutely nothing because the core korean fanbase is nuts. they should have never put him on hiatus so long in the first place because it normalized the 6 member group to fans. he never had a chance tbh.

The precedent this sets is terrible but I honestly don't see how the group would've been able to move forward peacefully when one member is essentially persona non grata among korean fans. I think Seungchan realized that as well and that's why he made his decision.

SM fumbled this so badly. They put themselves in between the rock and hard place by having him on hiatus for so long. They either should've stood by him at the start or brought him back earlier.

ia or if they were gonna kick him out, do it 10 months ago and avoid the limbo. Moving forward with him must've seemed unfeasible in the last 48 hours given the level of psychopathy displayed by kbriize, but him leaving like this is also going to damage the careers of the other 6 members bcuz they will lose lots of ifans over this.

Some people are just temporarily angry and will go back to supporting them next comeback, but a lot won't. Even a lot of korean fans who support Seunghan/aren't part of the vocal crazies are pissed by this. This stench is gonna follow them for a long time and it's their own agency and their own fans' fault. Crazy.

Keeping him in limbo for 10 months was horrible decision making. It solidified the group as 6 and meant him coming back would cause chaos. And SM just like didn’t care.

Yep. And I was really ready to stan them too cuz I love Wonbin, Sohee and Sungchan plus some of their songs but was holding out waiting for justice for Seunghan.

My ults rn are ZB1 (gays!) but they're just temporary till the end of '25, so my 5th gen long-term ults are prob gonna be BoyNextDoor and Kiss of Life, although I still need to do a deep dive on TWS.

I'm sad how Riize and NewJeans (two groups I LOVED) are basically ruined for me now. FiftyFifty was so promising too. Like I thought as kpop became more globalized a lot of this bullshit would stop (like there's just too much money to be made to let industry politics get in the way) but it seems crazy as ever. I'm finding it harder to get attached to ANY group when shit like this can happen at any moment.

I am getting whiplash. SM, and the other established K-pop companies, should be most able to withstand risks and weather any storms. This is behavior I would expect from smaller, less stable companies. I wonder how thin Riize's / SM's margins are in order to bow so easily to an outspoken minority.

This incident, along with Garam and LSF, shows how thoroughly these companies need to vet their trainees. Companies will probably use these incidents to justify the harsh rules, like no cell phones, placed on their child-trainees.

I have no faith that SM will release him from their contract. I hope he has access to the best lawyers and therapists.
