Ali and Kathryn both really moved me this episode. Alice realizing her mother’s song was a protection and belting it out to defeat the curse, Kathryn having a breakdown over Teen being injured. The rest of the coven is fantastic: Sasheer is so dry and Patti made me burst out laughing when they kept cutting to her playing different instruments. Aubrey is perfect for this part and I really like her chemistry with Kathryn, and how clearly they’re leaning into queerness in this series. Jac Shaeffer said in an interview that when choosing Joe for Teen, his acting was obviously the main thing but that she also found his face so beautiful on camera and I totally got that this episode. Really striking, and he did a great job. Overall the chemistry between everyone is really off the charts
Just caught up last night, and I am enjoying the show a lot! The dialogue/vibe is a little off at times - not sure if it's because of editing or what - but I like the relationships between the characters, and the opportunities everyone gets to look different during the trials.
Another thing I am really loving is that there are simply so many women on this show that I personally like! Kathryn, Sasheer, Patti, Aubrey - all fantastic! I also really like Teen, and everyone calling him Teen makes me laugh every time for some reason.
Re the dialogue I feel that too. Weirdly I almost think it’s a case of the script being perfect for people who are less comedically strong, because the lines would give the context and vibe needed - but because the cast are all great comedy actors, I actually think sometimes the lines of dialogue are clunkier than just letting their body language and faces, and maybe a little improv, do the talking.
Agreed re “Teen”, I think because of the condescending tone they all use for it. It almost feels like they’d call him that even if they knew his name. They’re really good at balancing between fondness for him and him being the sort of dogsbody/pet of the group. I burst out laughing when he popped up from digging the grave.
It wastes the talented cast (even though some of the acting is awful), the writing is tired and boring and the sets are so incredibly cheap looking. It is directionless.
I think this was the last ep for me - while the overall quality is I suppose better than She-Hulk this is the 2nd MCU tv show (after SH) I will drop.
(The MCU shows are mostly to blame for the downfall of the movies as well.)
It's funny you say they look cheap since they went full practical and built all the sets and miniatures of the houses etc vs doing the full CGI stage like the other Marvel stuff has been doing recently. Guess they really can't win lol

Why can't this show be good?
