"Come into our world"

What does that even mean?! She had Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton on this album. There are so many valid reasons to critique Beyonce and it blows my mind when people dodge that to come up with bullshit ones.

She's not apart of their community and they don't want to award outsiders. Despite that she's a Southern girl who grew up in Texas and had country songs on other albums.

Also racism.

She also performed Daddy Lessons with The Chicks years ago. Wasn’t that at the CMAs?? And people did act pressed about it then and they’re doing it again now.

Get the fuck outta here bud.

Right! She even starts Cowboy Carter talking about that moment. To act like country music in general is operating in good faith in their arguments over this is painfully naive at best.

Fuck off. Is the album country or not? Is it good? That's all that should matter. But everyone knows it's about whose ass you kiss to get an award.

Oh please. Beyoncé was snubbed because country music is full of racists. Jelly Roll is a literal former drug dealer and he isn’t being hazed. The end.

It’s racists. It’s white and a lot of male racists. There is literally nothing Beyoncé could do to replicate how white artists are treated.

He means kiss the rings of power and be part of the good old boy clubs. Country radio makes payola look quaint.

was it 9/11 that caused country music to be so exclusive? Because I remember in the 90s it was so fun and anybody could do it and then 9/11 happened and it's just been about beer and women and fake patriotism since then.

Idk they were still pressed then. Alan Jackson’s song “Gone Country” was a mockery of people trying to cross over into country music.

you know... this may be rose colored glasses, but i also remember country being much more accessible in the 90s, as well. country pop queens shania twain and faith hill (my girl) had hits on hits and of course, we had the chicks.

but i should note that they crossed into pop, not the other way around. that might be the clincher. popheads tend to not carry where you come from, as long as you can make them dance.
