Johnny Marr has been wanting to register The Smiths' name since 2018 so that third parties cannot profit off the band. Morrissey never responded, so Marr registered it himself

Like I said before, I wouldn't wish Morrissey on anyone. He is a genuinely awful person and I respect Johnny for standing his ground. I think a proper Smiths reunion was ALWAYS about twenty times less likely than an Oasis reunion, especially after Andy's death.
