From what I can tell, HYBE struck too early in that they knew she was planning *something* but she hadn't yet played her hand, allowing her to change course and reposition herself as the David to her Goliath. Meanwhile, even from the BEGINNING she's had an inappropriate fixation on cultivating a close relationship with the girls that steps beyond just boss and people who work for her.
When you look at it, she media played her mud slinging MUCH better but it's clear that was part of her plan while using HYBE's general brutish approach to her advantage in positioning herself as more 'delicate' instead of just as ruthless as they are (let's not forget those text messages or her comments about Illit's label as well)
I feel bad for both NJ and Illit being caught in the middle and how things have escalated out of control. The girls being attached to her is by purposeful design and, to me, CLEARLY shows how much she's been in their heads too long while Illit is just in complete limbo.
Exactly! This needed to be settled more tactful and quietly and instead they took the fast route that's been blowing in their faces since.
Also shows how much Hybe just dgaf about the girls either. They're not in the wrong for ousting her, but they're also not helping the girls deconstruct what has happened to them. All they know is that their support and teacher left and the company is creating copies of their group/concept they feel they created. Like yeah I would feel all sorts of ways in their shoes without any guidance.
Her conduct in this whole mess could (and probably will) form the basis for a heap of case studies in a PR and business textbook. Her media play has been masterful. For example, she knew damn well what she was doing bringing up specific groups but because her comments were all in the context of her "explaining"/situating her complaints, she gets to walk away like she didn't just pour gasoline everywhere and light a match for everyone else to throw. ILLIT and LSF also went through hell because of her press conferences and statements and even now they're still bearing the brunt of the blowback HYBE should be getting instead
( ... )
at the end of the day the real losers are the newjeans girls themselves. they're in a lose lose battle here whoever ends up on top, they suffer from inevitable backlash
