Not even two days after kpop girl group NewJeans took to YouTube in secret to air their greivances about HYBE on a livestream (see
ladychips'
post; all previous posts are linked there), Min Hee Jin (MHJ) has filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court.
MHJ is seeking a court order requiring ADOR to convene a shareholder meeting and vote that would allow her to return to ADOR's board before the end of her three-year term on November 2. Her legal representation argue that she was wrongly dismissed from her position as ADOR's CEO on the basis that her shareholders' contract with HYBE guarantees MHJ a spot as both a member of ADOR's board and ADOR's CEO until at least 2026. HYBE, meanwhile, has argued that MHJ's behaviour and use of underhanded tactics have rendered the shareholders' contract invalid.
According to her legal representation, MHJ will be first seeking solely to resume her position on ADOR's board; if successful, she will then pursue reinstatement as CEO.
From the law firm's press release: "HYBE has been arguing that the shareholders' contract has been nullified without any valid reason, two months before Min Hee-jin's term as a board member ends[.] It is clear that HYBE will not renew her term as a board member [of ADOR], which has led us to request an injunction for ADOR to convene a shareholder meeting and vote to renew her term."
The members of NewJeans, meanwhile, demanded in their livestream that HYBE reinstate MHJ as ADOR CEO by September 25.
Korea JoongAng Daily It's late so I am going to cite
ladychips once again and include her TL;DR summary: "for ONTDoesn't Read: MHJ created NewJeans, parent company Hybe wants her gone because she was conspiring to take company ADOR and NewJeans and run, MHJ has been fighting all of this."
