NEON wanted to buy 'Hit Man' but was outbid by Netflix

Neon CEO Tom Quinn naming Hit Man as one that got away is such a bummer. A ton of people saw it on Netflix, certainly, but it absolutely would have been more talked about and engaged with (and, yes, made some money at the box office!) if it had been a theatrical release first. https://t.co/8xM23IVAgx pic.twitter.com/ySxxuukuhc

Neon is crazy if they think this had any real Oscar prospects other than maybe adapted screenplay and that's even a stretch. This movie was better than i expected but it wasn't awards worthy. It was very Netflix appropriate.

It actually did get released theatrically in Canada and wasn’t available on Netflix here until like two weeks ago lol. But it’s stupid it didn’t get released elsewhere.

NEON releases some gems from time to time they didn't need this movie. Glenn Capybara's face is meant to be on streaming.

Interesting because I never would’ve left my house to go see it, but it was being advertised on Netflix so I just clicked the button when I had nothing else to watch.

It’s also a really dumb movie and not something you need to ever rewatch again (even as a comfort film), so I don’t get the love for it.
